Artist’s Statement:
My work is an explosion of colourful and emotional responses to the world I live in, inspired by nature, fashion and indeed, life itself.
An admirer of many genres from the more figurative movement of the Impressionists through to the American Abstract Expressionists I aim to interpret my subject matter by fusing my more figurative initial sketches in a looser but still structured method instilling the energy, emotion and freedom found through the painterly expressionist sentiment. Colour and texture are the unifying elements in my work.
I am always interested in how the viewer interprets and experiences my paintings in which I aspire to a ‘joie de vivre’ feeling. My intention is that viewing by work should be an uplifting experience, providing the viewer, even for a moment, with a flight of fanciful imaginings…. of escapism and pure joy!
